The community tends to be tech savvy and read a wide range of news sources, including blogs. People who read the blog tend to also visit tech-oriented sites and blogs like Wired, BoingBoing, Digg and Slashdot. In addition, they also visit mainstream sites like the New York Times, The BBC, The CBC and the Globe and Mail. The Daily Show and the Colbert Report are also popular sources of news with this crowd.
I have also gotten several referrals from OpenCongress.org, DigitalDivision.org and Brian Boyer’s blog Sixthw.com so clearly, readers of those site demonstrate an interest in mine.
The readership is also highly educated with most having finished at least one college degree. Readers don’t tend don’t tend to spend a lot of time on the site, with the average reader spending about 2 and-a-half minutes on the site. More in depth posts or interactive features might get people to linger longer.
The readership tends to be based in the US and Canada, places where I have lived and where I blog about. However, I have also gotten readers from Europe, Australia, Brazil and a number of other countries. These tend to be single hits and not a lot of return customers, so I might want to find a way to get these people to come back for additional visits.
